Yellow Moong Dal Idli
Ingredients:
- 1 cup yellow moong dal
- 1/4th cup/ yoghurt, thick
- 2 tsp oil
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
- 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
- Few curry leaves
- 2-3 cashew, chopped
- ½ carrot, grated
- Pinch of hing
- Coriander, finely chopped
- 1 tsp salt ( use salt for kids above 1 year)
- ½ tsp ENO ( fruit salt)
Preparation:
- Firstly, soak 1 cup of yellow moong dal in water for 2 hours.
- Drain off the water and blend to smooth paste without adding water.
- Add 14 cup curd and mix until the mixture is combines.
- Now on a tawa heat 2 tsp oil and splutter ½ tsp mustard, 1 tsp cumin, 1 inch ginger, few curry leaves, cashews and add ½ chopped carrot and sauté them for a minute.
- Now, transfer the masala tempering to moong dal batter bowl.
- Further add a pinch of hing, coriander, 1 tsp salt and mix it well.
- Grease the masala tempering to moong dal batter bowl.
- Just before steaming add a ½ tsp ENO (fruit salt) and mix it well till it turns frothly in texture.
- Pour the batter immediately into the idli mould. Do not rest the batter.
- Steam the idli for 15 minutes on medium flame.
- Finely, serve instant yellow moong dal idli with homemade chutney.
Yellow Moong Dal Idli contains approximately 47 calories per idli (40 grams).
