Vermicelli

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups vermicelli
  • 2 tablespoon ghee
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon split black gram (urad dal)
  • 2 green chillies, slit
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large tomato, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ cup green peas, blanched
  • 2 teaspoon finely chopped coriander leaves

Method:

  • Roast vermicelli in a non-stick pan till brown. Remove heat and set aside.
  • Heat ghee in a same pan. Add mustard seeds till it splutter. Add split black gram, red chillies, curry leaves and asafoetida. Mix well and add onion. Mix and sauté till onion is golden brown.
  • Add tomato and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add roasted vermicelli, 4 cup hot water and salt. Mix, cover and cook till the vermicelli is done. Add green peas and cook for 2 min.
  • Transfer it to a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
